I remember the first time when I started to go to a slimming club was when I was 14 years old. I carried on dutifully going to slimming clubs until I was 47rs old, a grand total spanning 33 years!
Having done the rounds of all the slimming clubs more than once, I got to the point that I could no longer sit in a village hall feeling depressed with increasingly slow weight loss and going through the same ritual at the meetings week in and week out. I got to the stage where I needed more personal help than what could be offered when weighing in at the scales. More often than not, the group talks were not relevant for me, so in the end I would just go for the weigh in. If I had a good weight loss, I would celebrate with eating too many sins and if I had gained or hadn’t weight I would do likewise.
I would more often than not buy a week’s supply of the slimming club brand of biscuits and sweets, only to have eaten the whole lot by the time I got home!
As the years went by, dutifully attending slimming clubs, I managed to get to my goal weight twice, which obviously I was more than happy with. However, as the time passed, my eating habits got worse and I was not able to maintain my goal weight.
